Sedgefield Borough Volunteer Bureau is holding its first Volunteer Award Evening on June 5, at Spennymoor Town Hall.
Volunteers nominated for an award will be invited to the event, which will include dinner and entertainment.
Organisations are asked to nominate volunteers in specific categories: longest serving volunteer, contribution by a group, most enthusiastic fundraiser, volunteer through adversity and volunteer of the year.
The winner of each category will receive a donation of £50 for their charity or organisations and there is £250 prize for volunteer of the year.
The awards night will be held during national Volunteers' Week, a celebration to recognise and pay tribute to the work done by volunteers.
Sedgefield Volunteer Bureau co-ordinator Sharon Vasey said: "This is an excellent opportunity for organisations to show just how much they value their volunteers.
"We are hoping that this will become an annual event, rewarding and recognising the commitment and invaluable work done by volunteers in Sedgefield borough throughout the year."
Anyone who would like to nominate a volunteer for an award can contact Sharon Vasey on (01325) 313930.
