VOLUNTEERS served up tasty treats with an Easter message yesterday.
Churches Together handed out free hot cross buns at the crossroads in Leadgate, near Consett - with paper napkins bearing a Gospel message.
Organiser Lynne Edwards, of Leadgate Salvation Army, said: "The serviettes are a way of getting the Easter message across, without it being a big intrusion into people's lives."
The volunteers were from Brooms Church, St Ives, the Methodist church and the Salvation Army.
