TWO Teesside charities are to benefit from a night-time trek by about 50 Sunderland fans.
Every year, the Billingham and District Branch of Sunderland Association Football Club Supporters Association (SAFCSA) completes the walk in aid of local charities.
Last year, it raised more than £4,600 for the Butterwick Children's Hospice and Ash Trees special school.
This year's walk, from Billingham to the Stadium of Light, is in aid of Zoe's Place baby hospice in Middlesbrough and the Cleveland Neurosurgical Fund, at Middlesbrough General Hospital.
The walk starts at Billingham Green at midnight, entering the stadium at roughly 2pm - in time for the kick-off against West Brom on Saturday.
SAFCSA committee member George Butterworth said: "I am exhausted just thinking about it. Not everyone will see the match - they will all probably fall asleep."
