STAFF and locals at a high street pub have pulled out all the stops for a fundraising extravaganza this weekend.

The Wheatsheaf pub, in High Street, Spennymoor, County Durham, has planned a full schedule of entertainment to raise money for Durham and District Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Landlord Paul Young said it is a charity that is close to everyone who goes to the pub.

He said: "My uncle suffers from MS, some of my regular customers have the illness, or relatives with it, and the local MS Society holds meetings in the pub now and again."

Last night, customers took part in a karaoke contest.

A table-top sale will start today's activities at 10am, with live entertainment in the evening from rock band Tennessee Hollow.

Darts, pool and dominoes competitions, and a barbecue, will take place tomorrow.
