TEACHERS from across the region will swap their classrooms for fast food restaurants next month to raise money for their schools.
On Saturday, May 3, teachers from at least four schools will be helping serve customers in McDonald's restaurants.
The challenge will be held at the firm's drive-throughs in Durham, Newton Aycliffe, Thinford, Peterlee and Burn Road, in Hartlepool.
Teachers from Newkar Primary School, in Chester-le-Street, Beaumont Hill School, in Darlington, Chilton Infants and Juniors School, and Clavering School, in Hartlepool, will work from noon to 2pm, raising £1 for every car they serve, with at least £150 being donated to each school.
A spokesman for McDonald's said: 'The drive-through challenge forms part of our ongoing commitment to the communities we serve.
"We are positive that this year's challenge will be as, if not more, successful than last year's, with many schools benefiting from funds raised."
