Sedgefield's 33rd annual medieval fair will take place on Saturday, May 17, and organisers are urging local groups to enter floats.
In its early days there were numerous floats in the parade marking the start of the fair, but in the past few years the number has been declining.
The organisers are seeking to reverse the trend and have urged local organisations to support the event.
This year's parade will be led by the Cleveland Police Band. In recent years the route has been shortened so that young children taking part do not get too tired, but the atmosphere the parade creates has not diminished, say the organisers, who are offering more prizes for the best floats in the parade, to encourage more groups to take part.
The parade is sponsored by Pepperpot Dolls Houses, and Ray Barron is the master in charge.
For details, telephone Mr Barron on 621166. Floats are to assemble at Queens Drive by 9.30am on the day.
