A MONTH-LONG celebration of local history is being drawn up by the Clayport Library, in Durham.
The events are part of May's national local history month, organised by the Historical Association and local history groups throughout the country.
The project has received Heritage Lottery Fund support and is a joint venture between Durham and Northumberland county councils.
The month of activities with begin with Keys to the Past, which reveals the secrets of County Durham and Northumberland's past.
On Saturday, May 3, there will be an illustrated talk on the stained glass of Durham Cathedral by Roger Norris, a former Dean and Chapter librarian.
Tickets for his talk, which starts at 10am, are £2 and numbers are limited.
On May 10 and 17, there will be a talk on the history of Hatfield College with a guided tour of the college on May 17.
During the half-term holiday, Durham County Council archaeologists will hold an Inspector Norse investigates session on Wednesday, May 28 for the over-fives.
There will also be an opportunity for children over five to create a family tree using family photographs on Saturday, May 31.
