RECEPTION class children at a primary school have been given top marks for attendance.
Reception Year One pupils at St Joseph's Primary School, in Gilesgate, Durham, beat other year groups at the school to become the first winners of the Overall Best Attendance trophy.
The trophy was donated by Three Rivers housing group to provide children at the school with an incentive to attend classes.
It will be awarded to the year group with the best attendance at the end of each term.
Headteacher Angela Boyle said: "We are hopeful that classes will be better attended.
"It will also promote the values of teamwork, as the whole class is assessed for the award.
"We would like to thank Three Rivers for being involved in the scheme."
