A parish council is opposing a scheme to build a home in former grounds of a village school.
Kirby Hill Parish Council, near Boroughbridge, wants planners to reject the scheme when they meet at Knaresborough on Thursday.
Applicant Falcon Developments (UK) wants to build a detached house in the grounds of Kirby Hill Church of England Primary School in the centre of the village, near Church Lane.
Planning officer Jill North is recommending councillors approve the application, but the parish council believes a four-bedroomed house would be out of keeping with neighbouring chalet-style bungalows.
If building work goes ahead, developers should not cross the village green for access to the site, says the parish council.
It points out the green is owned by the parish council and has already been left in "an extremely bad state".
Miss North says the home would be built on previously developed land and was within development limits of the village.
