A DEVELOPMENT in Durham City has won a national environmental design award.
Durham Millennium City, developed by City of Durham District Council with Durham County Council, received a commendation in this year's Civic Trust Awards.
The project, which is home to the Gala Theatre and Clayport Library, was among nearly 600 entries for the awards.
Set up in 1960, the awards are given to outstanding examples of new architecture, restorations, town planning, landscapes and public art.
The scheme, organised locally with the help of the county council, also recognises projects that benefit local communities or environments.
