CRAFTSMEN have completed a replica battleship to take part in a town's re-enactment of a naval battle.
The ship, the Robert E Eves, has been built by Coates Marine boatyard, of Whitby, North Yorkshire, for the twice-weekly battle held in Scarborough's Peasholm Park.
The attraction was originally called the Battle of the River Plate, but Scarborough Borough Council's head of leisure and operational services, Steve Hollingworth, said any links with the Second World War had been dropped.
He said: "This new boat will keep alive a much-loved feature of our holiday entertainment for many years."
The Robert E Eves is powered electrically by an operator inside, who also controls the firing turret, and will go into service next month.
