Langhaurgh and Easington will meet in the Wanless McConnell Cup Final after their semi-final victories this week.
Langbaurgh found their task the harder when they had to come from behind to beat Frankland 2-1. Keith Smith put Frankland in front in the first half Langbaurgh's Matt Lymer missed two penalties but then then redeemed himself when he bagged the equaliser before Andy Robinson crashed home the winner.
Easington entertained Stockton and found their opposition in determined mood as the game remained scoreless for 60 minutes. Steve Hawkes finally breached the Stockton defence and his team went on to score twice more with goals by Chris Bell and Neil Robinson.
Sunderland Saints had good news at the league meeting on Monday when they had three points restored to their total after a successful appeal and they further closed the gap on their rivals with a 3-0 victory over Derwentside. Andy Roper scored for Saints and the points were secured by late goals from Paul Oley and John Rowland.
There was an amazing match at Aykley Heads, where Durham HQ and Sedgefield shared eight goals. Sedgefield, bottom of the league, raced into a four-goal first half lead with goals by Ian Douglas, Mick Went, Neil Baker and Simon Morley. It took HQ a long time to get over the shock, but once they did rained goals. Tony Insall boosted his tally by two more goals while Andy Stewart and Chris Robinson both scored to grab a share of the points.
Newcastle and Durham Fire are closely matched in their League positions and couldn't be separated when they met this week, sharing six goals in the process. Simon Waggott scored twice in the first ten minutes for the Fire Brigade. Newcastle pulled back a goal through Shaun Fordy before half time. Goals from Steve Clough and Dave Henderson put Newcastle into the lead but it was a lead they couldn't hold onto and Colin Jones scored to ensure both teams took a point.
