A PLAN to hold Sunday car boot sales on farmland between April and October is facing opposition.
An application for change of use of two fields at Croft Farm, Minskip, near Boroughbridge, will be discussed by Harrogate Borough Council planning committee at Knaresborough, on Thursday.
Planning officer Andy Hough said the sales would have a "clear impact on the environment".
He said there was a balance between encouraging diversification at the small holding and the impact of using the land for car boot sales.
An objection from a resident said the site was too close to homes, and that traffic levels increased dramatically when sales took place last year.
Applicant Mr J Wilcoxs expects an average of 80 vendors with 200 cars visiting.
The sales would be held on Sundays, from 8am to 2pm, involving about 30 car boots with no restrictions on numbers attending, said Mr Hough.
