A humorous adaptation of a Viking legend is staged at Harrogate Theatre tomorrow.

Thor the Giant Killer tells the story of the thunder god and his companion Loki the mischief maker, with performances at 1.30pm and 5.30pm. The show is ideal for children aged from five upwards. Tickets cost £4 and can be booked by telephoning the Box Office, on (01423) 502116.

HALL RIGHT NOW: Two evenings of music, dance and variety mark the completion of the refurbishment of the Booth Hall Institute in Catterick Village. The performances by the Catterick Village Theatre Company and Playcraft Leisure School of Dancing on Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, begin with a reception at 7.15pm with curtain-up planned at 7.30pm. WOODLAND GRANTS: The Forestry Commission is reminding landowners they have until the end of May to apply for grants to help with the cost of any tree-planting they may have planned.
