Annandale Hotel v Goldsborough: The two teams battled out a close fought game with both sides struggling to play passing football on a dreadful surface.
Goldsborough pushed forward early on but found Bliwert in the Annandale goal in fine form on his return from serious injury. Annandle eventually found some space in midfield and a neat move between Johnson and Leighton gave Booth the opportunity to put them ahead, the young striker making no mistake from close range. Goldsborough hit back in the first half stoppage time when a controversial free kick found Dent unmarked for him to level the score. The second half developed into a tense struggle with both defences on top form, Booth broke forward only to find Sanderson in the Goldsborough goal blocking his path. The clearance upfield and some poor marking from Annandale allowed Raine to grab what proved to be the winning goal. Despite further efforts from Booth and Leighton, Goldsborough held out for a 2-1 victory, bringing Annandale's recent good run to an end.
Gt Ayton v Grangetown
In a competitive first half Grangetown had most of the play and deserved the lead at half time. Much of the play was dominated in midfield with Grainge prompting most of the attacking play for Ayton. Midfield supreme Dean Wake was the leading playmaker for Grangetown, although Ayton's approach play was good, the final ball into the penalty area was poor, consequently leading to limited opportunities to create any strikes on goal. Grangetown took the lead on 30 minutes when the Ayton defence failed to clear and Batty was able to steer the ball past Readman in the Ayton goal. Joe Bushby was Ayton's main threat to the Grangetown defence but with McIntyre defending well opportunities were limited. The second half saw Ayton pick up the pace and they began to have sustained periods of pressure on the Grangetown goal. A poor free kick was intercepted by Ayton, creating the opportunity for Murray to chase the ball down only for Moore in the Grangetown goal to kick the ball clear in the nick of time. A break down the right found Ripley, his first attempt to cross was intercepted but the loose ball came back to him, he laid the ball off for Grainge whose strike at goal was tipped over the bar by Moore. This good spell of play eventually led to Ayton's equaliser: a well placed pass from Bushby found Murray who squared the ball to Grange for him to fire home from 18 yards, making a draw a fair result.
Lingdale Utd v Highland Laddie
After 20 minutes of even play Lingdale took the lead when Evans split the Laddie defence with a telling pass for Iseton to control the ball and slot home from close range. With both teams defending well this remained the only goal of the first half. Highland Laddie began the second half as the much better team and after some heavy pressure equalised in the 50th minute, Lowther scoring with a low drive. A defensive mistake led to Lowther's second, he held the ball and drew the keeper out before coolly slotting home. On 85 minutes Lingdale were unlucky not to equalise, Whitehead shooting from close range only for the ball to go over the bar. Laddie managed to hold on for the remaining few minutes to take the three points
Redcar Mackinlay Park v Loftus Ath
In a mundane first half very few chances were created. Loftus took the lead when Todd caught a loose ball in the box and finished well. Mackinlay Park began to push forward in the second half and created quite a few chances. Final score was 1-0.
Eileen Hodgson Bowl Semi final
Lealholm v Brotton WMC
A Ryan Scott hat-trick helped Brotton win through to the final. Scott's first came when he lobbed the advancing Lealholm keeper midway through the first half. Then just before half time he pounced on a goal line clearance for his second. The hat-trick was completed 15 minutes into the second half but then Lealholm began to fight back. Brown was brought down in the penalty area and converted the resulting spot kick himself then a free kick was crossed by Atkinson and found Hutchinson who found the back of the net to take the score to 3-2. Lealholm then had three good chances but failed to convert and Brotton went back into attacking mode. Lealholm keeper, Gibson made some good saves to keep Lealholm in the game but Solomon made sure of Brotton's victory with a well finished goal with only minutes remaining.
North East Christian Fellowship League
A single goal by David Angier after 15 minutes for Jesmond Parish Church against Stranton Saints Hartlepool was enough for a 1-0 win and claim back top spot which they lost at Christmas. Consett Churches dropped down after a surprise loss at St Peter's Low Fell. Tony Nash opened the scoring with Consett's David Westgarth equalising. Barry Ward got the winner for Saint Peters.
Bethshan Christian Centre and Lanchester Chapel swapped placed with Lanchester going bottom after Chris Thompson scored a hat-trick and a strike from Mark Langdown. Karl Hepplewhite scored for Lanchester as Bethshan won 4-1. Metro Church Sunderland, in the top three all season, pasted Stakeford Methodist Church on their patch with a Jon Boyd hat-trick, two for Ryan Pender, Kevin Elliott and Noel Harrison getting a goal each in a 7-0 win.
Division Two champions Jesmond Parish Athenians had gone all season without losing a match, they won the title and then lost on Saturday to Heaton Hearts. A goal on the hour for Paul Richardson was enough for a 1-0 Heaton Hearts win.
Heworth Christian Fellowship again rattled in eight goals at the expense of Stockton Baptist Tabernacle. Nick Rowlings (4), a hat-trick from David Fittes and one from John Bulmer were responsible for Heworth's 8-2 victory. A John Iley penalty and Andy Bulmer got Tabernacle's goals.
A mid-table clash at Middlesbrough Baptist's went Jesmond Corinthian's way after Sam Cunning gave Corinthians the lead. John Schofield equalised as Simon Richardson got the winner for a 2-1 win.
Bottom club Whitley Bay Baptist Church, Gareth Lurlow gave them a 1-0 lead before half time at Saint John's Church Snod's Edge. The Saints took the second half with John O'Rourke scoring two and strikes from Ray Wilkenson and Martin Thompson for 1 4-1 win.
