Walkers are invited to take part in the Durham Town Trail next month.
There will be about 20 churches and buildings to visit, as well as rickshaw rides on Palace Green, during the tour, on Sunday, May 11, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. Refreshments will be served at St Godric's, from 2pm to 4pm, with afternoon teas available in the Salvation Army Hall, from 4.45pm. The event is in aid of the Christian Aid charity. HOT FOOD: Derwentside District Council's development control committee will discuss plans to change a ground floor commercial unit into a hot foot takeaway in Front Street, Leadgate, on Thursday. The plan has been recommended for approval.
TABLE-TOP SALE: Catchgate Chapel Schoolroom will stage a table-top sale from 10am to noon on Saturday, May 3. Admission is 10p. The event is in aid of the chapel's centenary celebrations.
DISCO ORGANISED: Members of the Prince's Trust XI Club at Fynedoune Community College have organised a young people's disco at the community centre, Sacriston, from 7pm to 10pm tomorrow. Entry is £1 at the door.
HOMES PLANS: Plans have been submitted to Durham City Council to convert agricultural buildings into two homes at Nags Fold Farm, Pity Me. Two double garages are also proposed on the site.

DONOR SESSION: A blood donor session will be held in Washington Leisure Centre from 2.30pm to 7pm on Friday.
MONEY RAISED: Year six children from Sacriston Junior School, led by Daniel Henwood, have raised £138 for the Blue Peter Appeal. The pupils organised a bring- and-buy sale, and Peter Cumiskey put on a puppet show.
RACE NIGHT: The Stanley branch of Cancer Research UK is holding a race night in the town's central club at 7.30pm on Friday. Admission is £3. Members will also present the charity with a cheque for £15,000. For details call Bill Burgess on (01207) 281201.
TRUST MEETING: County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust board will hold its next meeting in the Reception Suite, Consett Civic Centre, at 9.30am on Thursday. The meeting is open to the public.
GROUP MEETS: Durham and District Women's Cancer Support Group meets on Monday, May 12, at 7.30pm in the General Outpatients department at the University Hospital of North Durham.
