NORTH-EAST protestors are planning to take part in a colourful demonstration calling for a fairer world trading system.
As part of a national day of action called by the Trade Justice Movement, a rally will be staged through the heart of Newcastle on Saturday, June 28.
Starting from five points in the city, campaigners will march to Grey's Monument at 11.15am, where there will be speeches, followed by a minute's silence as a giant set of scales is raised.
To make the event more eyecatching, and to reflect the international nature of the campaign, each starting point has been allocated a colour, with participants invited to dress accordingly.
They are: St Mary's Cathedral (green); St Nicholas' Cathedral (purple); the Civic Centre (blue); St James' Park (black and white); and St Dominic's, New Bridge Street (red).
