ONE of the oldest bands in the region, the Stape Silver Band, from North Yorkshire, has achieved its highest accolade in its 119-year history.
It is to represent the North-East at the final of the British Federation of Brass Bands competition at Dundee, in Scotland, in September.
Its members are now organising a chain of fundraising events to finance their weekend trip, said bandmaster Michael Breckon.
