BRICKWORK students have proved their talent by creating a clock tower.
The students from Bishop Auckland College were set the unusual task as part of their modern apprenticeship course.
The design was based on a typical brickwork clock for Queen Victoria's golden jubilee and incorporated decorative brickwork skills using Flemish bond and buff-faced London bricks.
The lead finial at the top of the clock once stood on the roof of Otley Rugby Club, in West Yorkshire.
It took the level three modern apprenticeship students four months to complete the project.
Mike Thomas, construction lecturer, said: "This was a really interesting project as the decorative brickwork was quite intricate.
"The students worked really hard to get it finished and we are all really pleased with the completed tower.''
The clock will remain in the college's workshop as a central demonstration piece.
