AN AMATEUR dramatic group is promising to dazzle audiences with its production of a famous Broadway musical.
CBS Amateur Players Society is staging the musical comedy Guys and Dolls at the Empire Theatre, Consett, from Monday to Saturday, May 3, at 7.15pm.
It tells how Sky Masterson, played by Keith Shaw, meets Doreen Robson's Salvation Army girl, Sarah Brown, and tries to win her affections.
Other principal roles include Lindsay McPhail as Miss Adelaide, Ian Mordue as Nathan Detroit, Jim Arden as Benny Southstreet and Ernie Wilson as Nicely Nicely Johnson.
Local entertainer Hugh Malone tries to maintain order, in the role of Lieutenant Brannigan.
The group's production this year is an all-Derwentside affair, with the cast all from the area and the costumes and scenery supplied by local firms.
Tickets cost £6 for adults and £5 for concessions with all seats priced at £4.50 on the Monday.
They are available at the door, or from the box office on (01207) 218171.
