YOUNGSTERS burned off the extra calories from Easter at an athletics camp yesterday.
The three-day camp, which runs until tomorrow at Gateshead International Stadium, was organised by Gateshead Harriers in conjunction with Gateshead Council.
Now in its third year, it aims to help prevent children from becoming overweight by involving them in exercise.
They are taking part in activities led by the harriers' qualified coaches and senior members, who are teaching them basic athletics skills such as running, jumping, throwing and hurdling.
The event will culminate in a team and individual challenge, with trophies and certificates awarded to all those attending.
