FORMER railway worker George Flynn has spent his life on the move, and is now celebrating 20 years of giving history-themed guided walks.
The pensioner has been taking walking and history enthusiasts, and residents on tours of Darlington for the past two decades.
And he has no interest in giving up the hobby, with a further 20 walks planned for this spring and summer.
"As long as I can keep talking and walking, I shall carry on," said 73-year-old Mr Flynn.
"I meet so many interesting people on these tours and learn so much from them.
"Many come from the Darlington area, but I do get tourists from as far afield as Australia and America, and often from our twin towns."
Mr Flynn gave his first tour in 1983, on the subject of the Stockton to Darlington Railway. Since then, he has led countless walks in the town, speaking on dozens of historical areas of interest.
On Sunday, Mr Flynn will lead the Salters circular tour, revealing an ancient lane between the Harrowgate and Springfield areas.
Anyone interested is asked to meet at the corner of North Road and Longfield Road, at 2pm.
All the guided walks cost £2 for adults and £1 for pensioners, children and people with a Darlington Borough Council Leisure Saver Card.
