A WEBSITE helping people in the North-East delve into local history has been such a success that the project is being extended.
The Government-funded National Grid for Learning's local history trail has been giving hints on how to use the Internet to research old buildings, monuments and the history of towns and villages.
The trail, which was launched in February, was due to end on Friday, but is now being extended to coincide with Local History Month in May.
There have been hundreds of contributions to a gallery, building up a map of local history, including items on the opening of the electric tramway in Thornaby, Teesside, in 1898.
The website can be accessed by logging on to www.ngfl.gov.uk/localhistory
