FUTURE stars can look forward to the opening of a performing arts school this weekend.
Stagecoach, which supports The Northern Echo's Positive Young People Awards, is opening its doors at Bishop Barrington School, Bishop Auckland, and will be holding an open night on Thursday to welcome newcomers into the fold.
Katanya Ruddick, who is starting the school, said she felt that there was a demand in the Bishop Auckland area.
She said: "I already run the Stagecoach classes at Northallerton and I am a dance tutor at the one in Darlington. There is such a big demand for the one in Darlington.
"I am from Spennymoor and I thought I would try one in Bishop Auckland. There is such a lot of work in the arts around this area and it will give youngsters a chance to come along, be creative and enjoy themselves."
Parents and youngsters interested in joining the class are invited to the open night at Bishop Barrington school tomorrow, from 6pm until 8pm.
Performing youngsters from Stagecoach Darlington - Stare- will take to the stage in a demonstration to show parents what takes place in the classes.
The first class will be held on Sunday, from 10am to 1pm, and on every following Sunday.
Ms Ruddick said: "We have had a lot of interest already and places are filling up fast.''
