A TEENAGE girl driver and one of her passengers were recovering in hospital yesterday after a car hit a wall on an isolated country road.
The 17-year-old's red Peugeot 106 failed to negotiate a bend on the C30 road between Wolsingham and Hamsterley, County Dur-ham, at the junction of Howlea Lane.
Both the driver, who is from Durham, and her 16-year-old male front seat passenger were detained in Darlington Memorial Hospital after the crash, which happened at about 8pm on Monday.
Surgeons operated on the boy's left eye yesterday.
Two other teenagers, a girl from the Durham area and a boy from Tyne and Wear, were treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.
