NATURISTS are making a bid to have beaches designated for nude bathing.
But the move by a group of naturists at Cayton Bay and Knipe Point, has been vetoed by Scarborough Council and the parish council at Cayton, North Yorkshire.
Parish council clerk Margaret Welsh said "While our councillors agree that, to some, naturism is an enjoyable pastime, they feel strongly that the views of such people must not be thrust on the public and, in particular, children.
"It is important that the entire beach is kept safe."
