A HUSBAND and wife who were directors of an architectural ironmongers business that failed with estimated debts of £261,000 have given undertakings not to hold directorships or take any part in company management for four years and two years, respectively.
Brian and Marjorie Taylor, of Front Street, Wolsingham, were directors of EN Beaven Limited, which went into liquidation on April 18, 2001, owing its creditors £261,213.
The company operated from premises in Walton Road, Pattinson North Industrial Estate, Washington, Wearside.
The Insolvency Service said last night that Mr and Mrs Taylor had not disputed matters of unfit conduct.
They said Brian Taylor had caused, and Marjorie Taylor allowed, EN Beaven to advance funds totalling £215,056 to a company of which Mr Taylor was a director.
They did this without taking any security at a time when the recovery of the money was doubtful.
Also, both Mr and Mrs Taylor failed to promptly provide the liquidator with completed director's questionnaires.
