THE spiral slide at the Dolphin Centre swimming pool in Darlington has been shut after it was deemed unsafe.
Experts examined the slide earlier this month during an inspection of the leisure centre. The slide, which was opened in 1986, failed a safety test and was shut.
A spokeswoman for Darlington Borough Council, which runs the centre, said: "Unfortunately it will not be possible to open it again and it will be removed in time. Discussions are on-going about what will replace the orange slide. The blue slide is perfectly safe and is still open."
