SEDGEFIELD Community Association's Easter Monday picnic ended just in time to avoid a torrential downpour.
But the storm left the village without power because of a fault in a main electricity cable.
The picnic, in the grounds of Ceddesfeld Hall, was attended by more than 70 children.
Results of competitions at the event were: Dyed eggs: Five to eight - 1 and 3 Robert McGuinness; 2 Robert Young. Nine and over - 1, Sarah McGuinness; 2, Ashley Scott; 3, Melissa Wood.
Decorated eggs: Under five - 1,Will Simpson; 2 Tom Hearmon; 3 Bethany Petterson. Five to eight - 1 Charlotte Lomas, 2 Elizabeth Temperley; 3 Michael Levy. Nine and over - 1 Ashley Scott; 2 Melissa Wood; 3 Sarah McGuinness; special, Michael Hitch.
Easter bonnets: Under five special Bethany Petterson. Five to eight - 1, Kate Wilson; 2, Millie Phillips; 3, Elizabeth Temperley. Nine and over - 1, Hanna Moss; 2, Amy Fletcher.
