THE Home Office has refused a funding bid for security cameras in Kirkbymoorside.
The Government Office in Leeds informed town clerk Robert Horne that it would not pay for the cameras as funding was already provided for the Ryedale Community Safety Partnership, and it was up to that organisation to decide if it should pay for the cameras.
Inspector Neil Burnett said that Chief Constable Della Cannings was taking a positive view of the value of security cameras and he believed that such a system was needed in Kirkbymoorside because it had proved to be a success in reducing crime in Malton, Norton and Pickering.
