THE Guisborough Cycling Initiative, set up a year ago to promote cycling for short journeys within the town as an alternative to the car, has its first annual meeting in the Priory Room at Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough on Tuesday, May 13, at 6pm.
The group, chaired by Laurence Jackson School's director of community sport Les Thomson, is setting up an exhibition, outlining its work, for display in the room from 5.30pm, with refreshments available.
Acting secretary Janet Easley said: "We have had a busy first year and this is the chance to review what we've done and plan ahead. One of our main aims is to increase membership."
Members, who include local business people, residents, cyclists and pupils from Laurence Jackson, have formally adopted a constitution, developed a business plan and secured funding from the Guisborough Market Town Initiative to conduct a feasibility study.
Anyone interested in joining the group or applying for a position on its executive committee, should contact Janet at Redcar and Cleveland Council's development department at Guisborough, tel (01287) 612544.
Completed nomination forms need to be returned by Monday.
