THREE ivory and bronze figures were sold for £19,500 at a recent auction in Darlington.
A collector from the town bought two of the figures, called The Chain Dancer and The Hoop Girl, by the sculptor Demetre H Chiparus.
The figures, which were on sale at the town's Thomas Watson's Auction Rooms, fetched £7,500 and £8,000.
The other figure was bought by a telephone bidder in Belgium.
Other items in the sale included an oil painting of a fishing boat on a loch by artist RL Howey. It sold for £2,500.
In the pottery section a Moorcroft vase and biscuit box with a Moonlit Blue pattern sold for £1,700 and £1,600 respectively.
