A CONFERENCE to investigate the future of school sports gets under way next month.
Stockton Borough Council's first sports conference, on May 21, will look at the future of PE and school and community sport.
Organised with the help of Northfield School and Specialist Sports College, the event is designed for headteachers, PE teachers and sports coaches.
Lisa Yates, the council's co-ordinator of school and community sport, said: "This is the first conference of its kind to be held in Teesside and it promises to be a high profile, inspirational event.
"It means delegates can hear presentations on national and local perspectives on PE and sport, share good practice and learn about future sporting initiatives."
Key speakers at the conference will include Sue Campbell MBE, chief executive of the Youth Sport Trust, Tim Cantle-Jones, chairman of the North-East sports board for Sport England, and Rob Andrew MBE, director of Newcastle Falcons.
The conference will be held at the Oakwood Centre, Eaglescliffe.
