B&H Kings H 9 NS Bulls Head 2: With Mandale taking the league title last weekend, interest this week centred around the runners up spot with King's Head emerging favourites.
Following a 7-2 win over Redcar Coke Ovens in midweek, the Guisborough side coasted to another three points with a 9-2 win over the Bulls Head.
Ian Wagner gave the King's Head the best possible start hitting a hat trick in the opening twenty minutes and by half time they led 6-0 with goals from Paul Round Senior, Martin Mathewman and John McGee. Darren McCallen and John Rose pulled two goals back for the Bulls but with both Round and McGee finding the net for a second time and Bulls compounding their problems with an own goal, the King's Head coasted to victory leaving them needing to win one of their remaining games to secure the second place.
South Bank Utd 2 M'bro St Mary's Coll OB 2
Despite their 4-0 win over Thornaby Mandale in midweek, St. Mary's College slipped up against South Bank United and only managed to scrape a point with two late goals.
With the first hour goalless, it was United who struck first when Gary Naylor lobbed the keeper following good work from Peter Truscott.
Minutes later, Naylor returned the favour for Truscott to increase United's lead.
College man of the match Dave Aspery reduced the arrears with twenty minutes to go and with United down to ten men, it was Aspery who hit a thirty yard shot to bring the sides level.
United pulled out all the stops to win the game but a mixture of the woodwork and some fine goalkeeping from 15 year old Thomas Straker kept them at bay.
Black Horse 0 Thornaby Village 1
Black Horse finally broke their duck in midweek picking up their first point of the season with a 3-3 draw against Ennis Square indeed but for a last minute equaliser, they would have secured their first win.
Goals from Kirk Harrison and two from Mark Dixon had put the Black horse in a strong position but Ennis came back strongly with Wayne Gent pulling a goal back just before half time.
Jonathan Kirk, who had started the game in goal, switched back to his normal position up front and almost immediately pulled a goal back.
A minute from time however, Kirk struck for a second time leaving the Black Horse still seeking that elusive first win.
Against Thornaby Village at the weekend, the Black Horse turned in another creditable performance keeping the visitors at bay till twenty minutes from time when Michael Head scored with the help of the upright.
Coulby Newham LF 3 Thornaby Mandale FC 2
Thornaby Mandale suffered their second defeat in a week despite leading two nil after an hour's play.
Sean Jenney started the fightback and when Darren Kirby tapped home with fifteen minutes remaining a shock was on the cards.
Minutes later, Mark Sowerby duly obliged scoring the goal of the game with a solo run that started just inside the Mandale half.
Ennis Square 5 Stockton Elementis 1
Jonathan Kirk continued where he left off in midweek hitting four goals as Ennis Square coasted to victory over Stockton Elementis.
Kirk beat the offside trap before going through to score the Ennis opener and by half time the striker had added a second while Wayne Gent gave Ennis the cushion of a third goal heading home just before the break.
Elementis pulled goal back early in the second half but two more from Kirk put the result beyond doubt.
North Skelton 3 The Grenadier FC 2
North Skelton kept their hopes of avoiding finishing second bottom alive with a surprise win over the Grenadier who earlier in the week had hammered the Bull's Head 10-0.
Anthony McCabe hit a twenty five yard thunderbolt that found the top corner of the net to give North Skelton the lead and by half time they led 2-0 when John Brooks chipped home from the edge of the area.
Early in the second half, Andy Fixter scored for the Grenadier and minutes later they were right back in the game when Michael Russell slotted home the equaliser.
With the game going from end to end, both sides had their chances, but three minutes from time, McCabe hit a thirty yard shot over the Grenadier keeper that proved decisive.
Stokesley SC 4 Woodmans Arms 4
Three nil up after an hours play, Stokesley must have fancied their chances of victory with two goals from Andrew Deane together with a strike from Kevin Wilson giving them the upper hand.
Two penalties in as many minutes however changed the whole complexion of the game with Jeff Maloney making no mistake with either of his spot kicks.
Maloney then went through one on one to make it all square but Stokesley regained the lead with ten minutes to go when Lawrence Ndlovu found the back of the net.
Five minutes from time however, Maloney popped up for his fourth of the game rounding a defender before scoring from a very tight angle.
