FIRE fighters today cut a woman motorist free from the wreckage of a car involved in a four vehicle pile up on Teesside.
Cleveland Police believe the woman had stopped her Fiat Punto in a line of stationary traffic, behind a lorry, when a car - an Omega - hit her from behind, pushing her car into the wagon.
She was treated in hospital for whiplash injuries, while a woman passenger from her car and the male driver of the Nissan were treated for superficial injuries.
The shunt occurred on the slip road from the A66 to the Newport Bridge at Middlesbrough.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "It could have been a lot worse.''
