A Passport to Health course is being run for eight weeks at Trimdon Colliery Community Centre, starting on Monday, from 10am to noon.
Among the activities on the course, which is free, will be healthy cooking advice, including a free recipe book, gentle exercise, complementary therapies and information on how to cope with stress or chronic heart disease, and basic first aid.
Everyone who attends will receive a passport for which they can collect stamps to trade for prizes.
Lisa Nivens, Passport to Health co-ordinator, said: "Anyone living in Trimdon Colliery and the surrounding area is welcome to come along. The course promises to be fun-filled and informative."
Places are limited. To book contact the Passport to Health team on 0191-301 3813.
