GUARDIANS of the bygone age of steam will gather in the North-East this weekend.
Members of the National Traction Engine Trust from across Britain, Europe and the US will be at a training weekend and traction engine display at Beamish Museum, near Stanley, County Durham, on Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 5pm.
Twelve engines from across the region, made by the likes of Foden, Fowler and Marshall, will be on display next to the attraction's railway station. The star of the show will be a 12-ton steamroller from the 1890s.
The museum is open from 10am to 5pm, with last admission at 3pm. Entry is £12 for adults, £10 concessions and £7 for children.
