DARLINGTON'S Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College has held its annual Leschinski music competition, in memory of piano teacher Olga Leschinski, a Russian refugee in Berlin who was murdered by the Nazis.
There were 12 entries with students performing a range of pieces from their own compositions to Andrew Lloyd Webber vocals and classics including Rachmaninov's Prelude in C Sharp Minor.
First prize was awarded to Daniel Johnson playing his own composition, Always and Forever, on the alto saxophone. Joint second were Anice Neville (flute) and Peter Mears (piano).
