CHILDREN practised their football skills at the launch of a sports project.
The Go Sport Conyers project held an open day at Conyers School, in Yarm, to celebrate the opening of its synthetic football field and to persuade people to get involved in sport.
The day began with prim-ary and secondary school pupils taking part in football sessions with Bill Beswick, of Middlesbrough Football Club, and first team players.
This was followed by an opening ceremony with speeches by headteacher John Morgan and Olympic athlete Allison Curbishley, who also took part in training and coaching sessions with the youngsters.
The Go Sport Conyers Project, which aims to make sport more available to the community, was created by Chris Aitkin, the school's director of sport, two-and-a-half years ago.
