tALENTED youngsters are being given the chance to make a career in music with the launch of the record label 6K Vision Records.
The initiative is being run by a team of young entrepreneurs and their first bands are already being signed up.
James Koppert, 23, of Scarborough, a solo artist and 6K's head of public relations, said: "The dream is that North Yorkshire becomes known for having its own music industry so you don't always have to go to London. We'll make it so the music industry comes to us."
The project is being co-ordinated by the Live and Loud initiative, run by North Yorkshire County Council's continuing education unit through its Connecting Youth Culture project.
Work has begun on recording the first album featuring seven acts with musicians aged up to 25. The CD is expected to be launched at a youth arts festival in Tadcaster in July.
The label is looking for new talent and would like to receive as many demo tapes and CD's as possible. Anyone interested can send their tapes to Alex Cromarty, Connecting Youth Culture, County Hall, Northallerton, DL7 8AE.
