A REDCAR woman has combined two of her passions to create a processional banner for her church choir.
Elizabeth Fletcher was so pleased to be singing for the choir at Christ Church, in Coatham, she has spent £1,500 on embroidery materials over the past two years.
The finished product has taken more than 5,000 hours but she is pleased with the banner, which bears the church emblem.
Mrs Fletcher, 50, is donating the work, which measures 7ft by 3.5ft, to the church where it will go on display.
"It was hard work but it is very therapeutic once you get into it and very rewarding afterwards," said Mrs Fletcher, an embroiderer for 30 years who teaches classes in the subject.
"I wanted to do it and felt I was compelled to from a faith perspective and my love of embroidery."
