CAMPAIGNERS fighting two separate bids for a waste transfer station in a North Yorkshire village have organised a public meeting tomorrow to decide the next step of their battle.
Northallerton-based waste management company Yorwaste is adamant it needs a temporary base to deal with household rubbish.
When a bid to use the old potato store on Bridge Road in Brompton-on-Swale was rejected by Richmondshire District Council, the company switched its attention to the old Scorton landfill site.
Objectors met last week and decided to organise a public meeting at the Brompton-on-Swale Sports Club at 7pm tomorrow.
Objector and spokeswoman Phi*ippa Cooper said: "This time, the meeting won't decide where we stand on this or that particular issue.
"What we need to decide is what type of appeal we should press for, whether we think that Yorwaste proposals can be dealt with by letter or if it the appeal should go to a full public inquiry."
The company has confirmed it intends to appeal against Richmondshire District Council's decision to reject its plans.
The notice of appeal prompted a fresh wave of protest.
