A TEENAGER is recovering after a man wrapped a dog collar around her neck and assaulted her.
The 19-year-old, who has not been named, was walking alone through the Hallgarth estate in The Grove, from a night out in nearby Consett, County Durham, on Sunday.
She was approached by a man, who struck up a conversation with her.
He then wrapped the black collar around her and dragged her to the ground, where he kicked her twice in the head, before she managed to struggle free and run away.
Her attacker is described as white, in his 40s, 5ft 8in tall, of slim to medium build, with short, dark hair and a full beard. He was wearing a navy blue or black jumper and dark trousers.
Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Consett police station, on (01207) 504204.
