YOUNGSTERS hope to make life more entertaining by staging their own music show.
The 13 and 15-year-olds from Kelloe and Quarrington Hill, an area that lacks leisure facilities, were given almost £15,000 from the Princes Trust Millennium Award Fund for positive and creative activities.
They formed Rural Crew and are spending the money on giving other teenagers something to do.
On Sunday, May 11, the group will stage a show, which will feature chart songs and ballads.
Admission is free but tickets are limited. The show, being staged at Kelloe Primary School, is from 6- 8pm.
The group is supported by Durham County Council's Education in the Community. Youth Worker Keely Fingleton is working with the youngsters as part of the Mid-Durham Projects Team.
She said: "These young people are really dedicated. They have worked very hard researching their community, applying for the grant and planning what kinds of skills and activities they want to learn and pass on to others."
Anyone wanting tickets should call Keely Fingleton on (0191) 384 8358.
