A COUNCIL is looking into what action can be taken to help reduce problems with parking in town centre car parks.
Car parks in Thornaby will be visited by attendants from Stockton Borough Council during a week-long enforcement campaign that begins today.
Their main duties will be to enforce the regulations, but they will also be giving motorists advice about the availability of parking in the town centre.
David Lynch, the council's team leader for traffic management, said: "We would urge drivers to take care to park their cars correctly and not to park outside marked bays.
"We would also ask people not to park in disabled bays unless they are displaying a blue disability badge, and taxi bays should only be used by taxis."
