QUARRY PLANS: Quarrying in the village was discussed at length following a planning application from Tancred Quarry, Scorton.
The quarry is seeking a variation in planning conditions relating to revised methods and phasing of mineral extraction. Councillors agreed that the change in rotation of the planned phases of extraction was not a problem but the proposed method was a contentious issue. They agreed to reply to the North Yorkshire County Council's environmental services department, outlining their concerns.
VILLAGE PARKING: Concern was raised by Chairman Threlfall, who had noticed an increase in indiscriminate parking on village green areas. It was agreed that this practice must be curbed because, at its present levels, grass verges are suffering much damage.
JUBILEE GREEN: The recent site meeting held at the Jubilee Green brought a good response from residents on ideas put forward by young people in relation to what they would like to see at the recreation area.
NEW MEMBERS: Following the next meeting, on Tuesday, the parish council will need to ask for co-opted members as there will be three vacant councillor posts.
BUS STOP: After a meeting with the Arriva bus company, it was agreed to site a bus stop sign between the bollards near the White Heifer Inn.
GRIT BIN: Richmondshire District Council will position a grit bin in the Cleveland and Clarence Road area during the summer to ensure it is ready for use in winter.
