A GROUP of adult learners will receive awards marking their achievements tomorrow.
The students from Darlington have been invited to attend a ceremony at the town's Arts Centre, which will start a week of activities to highlight the benefits of learning for adults.
The awards will be presented by David Heaton, principal of Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College and chairman of the Darlington Learning Partnership.
Anita Blackburn, assistant principal at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College and one of the ceremony's organisers, said: "All the learners at the ceremony are worthy recipients of their awards. They have been nominated for their commitment."
Awards will go to Mike Fryer from the Darlington Education Authority (WEA), Hazel Foster from Darlington College of Technology, Sandra Urwin from Morrison Enterprise Trust, Lee Hill-Sampson of Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Wendy Brown of Sure Start and Olive Mann from the WEA.
Group awards will be presented to The Lawns Visual Impaired Group at Darlington College of Technology, the Access to Higher Education mathematics group at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College and the family history group at the WEA.
