A MUSEUM is seeking help with plans to create a local history archive of the Second World War.
Beck Isle Museum, in Pickering, is working on the archive, which relates to Pickering, northern Ryedale and the North York Moors, with help from the Local Heritage Initiative.
Members of the museum's oral history team are conducting recorded interviews with local people who served in the Armed Forces or remained on the Home Front.
It is also possible for people to contribute their written memories or stories and experiences.
All aspects of life, from farming to village and town experiences, service life and civil defence, are to be covered.
One of the aims of the project is to create a map of the locations of wartime defences and camps within the area.
Anyone who feels they can help or contribute to the project is asked to contact Beck Isle Museum of Rural Life, Bridge Street, Pickering, North Yorkshire, YO18 8DU, or telephone (01751) 473653.
