AFTER a four-year wait, plans to improve facilities at a bowling club have come to fruition thanks to a £23,900 grant.
Ripon Bowling Club's pavilion at Ripon Spa Gardens, will be rebuilt after Harrogate Borough Council secured a grant through Landfill Tax Credits.
Patrick Kilburn, head of parks and open spaces, said: "There are many people in Ripon who deserve the credit for persevering with this project.
"We now have the financial package in place which will really give the bowlers the facilities they require to make more of their sport within the community."
The pavilion project will cost about £42,000, with the council providing nearly £316,00, Ripon Bowling Club £1,556 and Ripon Single Regeneration Budget £1,000.
The building will be extended outwards and upwards, with the flat roof being replaced by a typical pavilion-type pitched roof using reclaimed, natural blue slate.
Inside, the building will house a store room, a meeting room and a kitchen.
