LABEL producer GSM Graphic Arts has completed one of its more unusual commissions - stainless steel labels for bottles of vintage malt whisky.
The label and nameplate producer was commissioned to create stainless steel labels for the first single cask bottling of The Glenrothes Vintage Malt. GSM Graphic Arts, of Thirsk, North Yorkshire, has produced two labels - the main bottle label and a second double-sided stainless steel neck tag.
The whisky sells for between £699 and £897 per bottle, depending on the cask, and a unique appearance was imperative. The casks, two from 1966 and two from 1967, produce different tastes and different depths of colour depending on their origin and each bottle is labelled with its cask number and its unique bottle number. The bottlings are limited editions, ranging from 150 bottles to 216 bottles per cask.
The Glenrothes Distillery is in the heart of Speyside, and has been producing high quality single malt whisky since 1879. The Glenrothes Single Speyside Malt is one of the principal malts used in the premium blend Cutty Sark Original Scots Whisky.
GSM Graphic Arts employs 65 staff, manufacturing anything from a one-off product to a run of 10,000.
The GSM Group is one of Europe's largest manufacturers of printed labels and nameplates in metal and plastics and has manufacturing sites in Wales, Oxfordshire and Yorkshire.
